Dear family member/resident representative,
Thank you to the family members and resident representatives who were able to attend the meeting held earlier today. During this meeting we shared an update regarding IRT’s purchase of a property referred to as Milton Meadows and our intentions to revise the associated development approval.
To guide revisions to the plans we are conducting a customer research program which involves a series of interviews and focus groups. It is important to us that our customers, employees, members of the community and others outside of the region with a desire to move here have the chance to contribute their ideas. All feedback will be considered and incorporated into the revised plans.
Also part of the development process is an Aboriginal heritage survey which will soon be conducted on the property and in the event of the discovery of culturally significant items IRT will consult with the Aboriginal community to reach a resolution. A notice inviting expressions of interest to participate in the survey has been published in local newspapers.
It is our aim to submit the revised plans as a major modification to the existing approved development application for assessment in late 2022. Pending its approval, we expect earthworks to commence soon after with construction of stage 1 to follow.
What is happening with Sarah Claydon?
In today’s meeting we also shared that after much consideration the decision has been made not to redevelop IRT Sarah Claydon. At this time a plan for its long-term future use has not been determined.
We are continuing to explore a range of options for the future of Sarah Claydon and will keep all residents, their family and staff informed. For now we remain committed to caring for all residents, delivering our services and ongoing maintenance program.
If you have any questions about this please talk with your IRT representative.
Yours sincerely
Nia Briguglio
Executive General Manager – Aged Care Centres
