Important information about IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee Aged Care Centre

13 April 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your ongoing support as we manage the risk of COVID-19 at your loved one’s aged care centre.

I am pleased to let you know that today 3 of our COVID-19 positive residents have reached their recovery criteria of 10 days in isolation and 3 days with no symptoms. These residents have now received GP clearance and have returned to Magnolia Cottage.

In the coming days, we will have a number of positive residents reach their recovery criteria and following GP clearance, they will also be relocated back to their rooms.

Unfortunately yesterday we were made aware of a resident in Roden Cutler House who was displaying flu-like symptoms. The resident was tested for COVID-19 and returned a positive result. Following consultation with their family, they were moved to our COVID-19 wing on Level 1 of the aged care centre.

As a precaution, all close contacts of this resident were PCR tested and unfortunately another resident returned a positive result. This resident is fully vaccinated and is currently asymptomatic. We are in consultation with the resident and their family so that the resident can be relocated to our COVID-19 wing later today.

In response to this, the NSW Public Health Unit has advised that all residents in Roden Cutler House must remain in their rooms until PCR tests are conducted on all residents. Once we receive the test results and assuming they are all negative, residents who were not identified as a close contact will be able to leave their rooms. The residents who were originally identified as a close contact of the first positive case will remain in isolation for 7 days as per the requirements of NSW Health.

Visiting arrangements

As previously outlined, we strongly encourage you to reconsider the need to visit your loved one.

If you feel you must continue with your scheduled visit please proceed with caution. If visiting a loved one please do so only in their room.

All visitors must wear all necessary PPE whilst in the care centre, including a P2/N95 mask and complete a rapid antigen test prior to entry.

Please do not visit the care centre if you are unwell with even the mildest symptoms, or if you are awaiting the result of a PCR test.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate.

If you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely,

Nia Briguglio
