An important update about St Georges Basin Aged Care Centre

16 May 2025

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to let you know that we have several cases of COVID-19 in the Jervis Wing at your loved one’s care centre.

In response to these positive cases, we have implemented our outbreak management plan, which includes a range of infection control protocols to minimise the risk of the virus spreading within the care centre.

We have also implemented a routine testing regime for staff to ensure we detect any other cases as soon as possible. If there are any changes to this, we will let you and your loved one know.

Visiting arrangements

If you plan to visit the care centre, there are no changes to visiting hours.

If you do continue with your plans to visit the care centre, the following arrangements apply:

  • All visitors to the care centre must provide proof of a negative rapid antigen test before entry, which has been completed within the last 72 hours.
  • Visitors to the Jervis Wing will be asked to wear a P2/N95 mask which will be provided on entry.

Visitors to other units are not required to wears masks at this time but they may if they wish to.

All other visiting arrangements continue to apply. You can find more information about our visiting arrangements on our website here.

As always please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild. Even if you have a negative COVID-19 test result you may still have a contagious respiratory infection.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions, please contact your Care Manager.

Start planning your annual flu vaccination

As we anticipate the cooler months and upcoming flu season, now’s the time to start planning for your annual influenza vaccination.

We strongly encourage all visitors to our aged care centres to have an annual flu vaccination, which can be obtained at your local pharmacy or from your GP.

For most of us there is simply no question about getting the flu vaccine, especially if we have experienced a bad bout of flu or know someone who has. Getting vaccinated is not just important for the safety of our residents and customers, but also for our own health and wellbeing as well as that of our family, friends and colleagues.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely
