An update about IRT Tarrawanna
Aged Care Centre

11 October 2021

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we manage the risk of COVID-19 at your loved one’s aged care centre.

As indicated yesterday all residents and staff were once again tested for COVID-19 and results so far indicate two more residents have tested positive. Both residents, who are fully vaccinated, are experiencing mild symptoms and remain at the Centre. We have notified their nominated representatives.

All other residents who returned positive tests and remain at the centre continue to experience mild symptoms or no symptoms at all and are being monitored closely.

If any of our residents require acute care or develop complications of existing health issues they may be transferred to Wollongong Hospital or Lawrence Hargrave Hospital.

Our residents who were transferred from the centre for these reasons on Friday, remain stable and we continue to be in contact with their nominated representatives and both hospitals for updates on their progress.

Testing again tomorrow

All residents and staff will be tested again tomorrow. I realise regular testing may be uncomfortable for some but I am grateful for the patience and support of all residents as we undertake this necessary procedure.

I will keep you informed of the results which can take up to 24 hours for us to receive.

We continue to care for all residents in their rooms and today the Lifestyle team will provide them with a range of special interest magazines as well as crosswords and puzzles.

Staying connected

We are grateful for the cooperation of residents and we are eager to assist them with phone and video calls as needed. If you are talking with your loved one and have any concerns about them please let us know.

Delivery of Gifts

Just a reminder that if you would like to deliver or send any gifts to your loved one please assist us with the following:

  • Remember to include your loved one’s name on the gift so we can ensure it goes to the right person
  • All items to be delivered between 10am – 11am or 1pm – 2pm
  • All items to be placed on a table which has been positioned and is identified as the table for gift delivery outside reception (this has been moved further undercover from the rain but is still easily identified)
  • Do not send items that require refrigeration

In addition to my regular updates our team will continue making regular phone calls to you as you are identified in our records as the person responsible for your loved one. We are not able to communicate with all family members so please pass on this information to other family contacts as you deem appropriate.

No visiting

The centre remains closed to all visitors (other than those attending for end of life).

If you have any questions or concerns we would appreciate it if you called our Customer Service Team on 134 478.

Thank you for your ongoing understanding and support.

Yours sincerely,

Nia Briguglio
