Important information about IRT William Beach Gardens Aged Care Centre

Dear family member/resident representative,

I’m writing to let you know that a small number of residents at your loved one’s aged care centre have tested positive to parainfluenza.

The residents live in Flinders Court West and are experiencing mild symptoms. Residents are being encouraged to remain in their rooms where we are monitoring them closely in consultation with their GPs.

In response to these positive cases, we have implemented our outbreak management plan, which includes a range of infection control protocols to minimise the risk of the virus spreading within the care centre.

We have also implemented a routine testing regime to ensure we detect any other cases as soon as possible. If your loved one returns a positive result, we will let you know by phone and continue to provide you with a daily update regarding their progress.

Visiting arrangements

If you continue with your plans to visit the care centre, the following arrangements apply:

• All visitors to Flinders Court West will be asked to wear a surgical mask. These will be provided on entry.

• Staff will advise if any additional PPE is required. Please wear your PPE as instructed by staff. If a staff member asks you to adjust it they are doing so to protect you, your loved one, and all others living and working in the care centre.

As always please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild. Even if you have a negative COVID-19 test result you may still have a contagious respiratory infection.
