Dear family member/resident representative,
Thank you for your ongoing support as we manage the risk of COVID-19 in your loved one’s aged care centre.
Yesterday all residents of the care centre were tested for COVID-19 and we have received results, with two more residents testing positive; one in Currarong House and one in Callala House.
There are now five residents at the care centre who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, and one who is in hospital receiving care for an unrelated matter. They continue to experience a range of symptoms from mild to none at all and are being monitored closely.
To limit the risk of the virus spreading, residents of Cambewarra, Currarong and Callala houses are encouraged to remain in their rooms and avoid moving about the care centre. We would appreciate your support in their decision to stay in their room.
The Lifestyle team is providing support to residents with activity packs to suit a range of interests and assisting where required with phone and video calls to family and friends.
All residents of Cambewarra, Currarong and Callala (except those who have already tested positive) will be tested again tomorrow via the rapid antigen testing method, and again via PCR on Monday.
Results of PCR test can take up to 24 hours and I will provide you with a further update on Tuesday when we hope to have these results.
Visiting arrangements and the wearing of PPE
As outlined earlier, I strongly encourage you to reconsider your visit at this time or the need to take your loved one out of the centre. If you do proceed please assist staff by complying with the following:
Please do not visit the care centre if you are unwell with even the mildest symptoms. Even if you have tested negative for COVID-19 you could have influenza which is also highly contagious.
Please pass this information on to others in your family as you consider appropriate.
If you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Yours sincerely
Richard Walsh
