An update about IRT Moruya Aged Care Centre

18 February 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your support as we continue to manage your loved one’s aged care centre in accordance with our outbreak management plan.

I am pleased to let you know that the results of yesterday’s PCR tests on all residents who have not tested positive to COVID-19 were all negative.

Our positive residents are continuing their recovery and are doing well. We are pleased that some of them will be due to reach their recovery criteria early next week.

All residents at the centre (other than those who had already tested positive) will be tested again today via the PCR method. I will inform you of the results in my next update on Monday, however you will be contacted by the aged care centre by phone if your loved one does return a positive result.

Our Lifestyle team are supporting all residents with activity packs of interest as they continue to encourage them to remain in their room, to assist with stopping the spread of the virus within the centre. One on one checks are also being performed today.

Visiting arrangements

While the risk of COVID-19 remains within the centre you are encouraged to postpone any plans to visit. If you do continue with your plans please assist staff with the following arrangements.

  • Children under 12 years of age are not permitted to visit the affected area of the care centre.
  • Residents are permitted 2 visitors only by appointment.
  • All visitors are asked to show proof of a negative rapid antigen test and before entering the care centre.
  • All visitors are asked to wear all necessary PPE at all times while in the care centre including a P2/N95 mask and a face shield which will be provided on entry.
  • Those visiting a resident who is considered a close contact or is COVID-19 positive will also be asked to wear a gown and instructed on how to dispose of it safely.
  • Please wear your PPE as instructed by staff.

Please do not visit if you are unwell yourself, with even the mildest symptoms. Symptoms of respiratory infection can indicate a range of contagious viruses including COVID-19 and influenza.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Yours sincerely,

Nia Briguglio
