An update about the QI Program Survey

22 May 2023

Dear family member/resident representative,

You may recall that I wrote to you earlier this month about a new quarterly survey that the Federal Government has asked us to coordinate at your loved one’s aged care centre.

The survey is part of the National Aged Care Mandatory Quality Indicator Program (QI Program) and aims to measure, monitor and improve the quality of care provided to older Australians.

Survey is now open

The survey opens today, Monday 22 May for residents and will close on Friday 16 June 2023.

Your loved one will be provided with a copy of the survey to complete in their own time. It includes 12 questions and all survey responses are completely anonymous.

If they need assistance to complete the survey, our staff will be on hand to read out the questions to them, or write their responses down.

What happens if my loved one can’t complete the survey?

If your loved is unable to complete the survey, you will be invited to be their proxy and complete the survey on their behalf. If this is the case, you will receive an email and SMS from an independent provider called MOA Benchmarking on Monday 29 May 2023 with a link to the online survey.

If you don’t receive an email or SMS from MOA Benchmarking next week, it means your loved one has indicated they have capacity to complete the survey themselves, or with staff assistance, and you do not have to do anything.

Will you share the survey results?

Yes. A summary of the survey results for your loved one’s care centre will be available three weeks after the survey closes and will be shared at your Residents and Relatives meeting.

Results for all residential aged care providers in Australia will be published by the government on the GEN Aged Care Data website six months after each survey is conducted.

The QI Program Survey will be conducted on the second month of each quarter and we will provide you with notice prior to each one. Remember, the survey email and SMS will come from MOA Benchmarking.

Please note that the Department of Health has designed the survey to be completely anonymous. It is for this reason that we encourage you and your loved one to continue using IRT’s existing feedback and complaints process if you have any immediate comments, complaints or feedback so that we can openly communicate with you and respond as soon as possible.

If you’d like more information about the QI Program, click here and if you have any questions, please speak to your Care Manager.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards,

Nia Briguglio
