I am also writing to share details with you about some preliminary investigation work which has begun to evaluate the condition of the buildings and their associated infrastructure at your loved ones aged care centre. This is part of our commitment to ensuring our buildings are fit for purpose.
As you may know, IRT Woonona is one of IRT’s oldest sites and some of the buildings are now many decades old, having been built in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Over the next few months consultants will be onsite to undertake various assessments that will be used to evaluate the site and the condition of the older buildings. This information will assist us to determine next steps for the future of the site; about which, residents and their families will be kept informed.
You may have already noticed one or two contractors who have been outside on the grounds this week to identify and locate existing underground services. This is part of the preliminary assessment process.
At this stage no further assessment actions have been scheduled, and as planned we are looking forward to welcoming our new staff from the Philippines later this month as they move into the Blueberry Ash apartments which have been refurbished for this purpose.
If you have any questions about the information I have shared here, please speak with the Care Manager.
Yours sincerely
Nia Briguglio
Executive General Manager – Aged Care Centres
