An update about IRT Tarrawanna Aged Care Centre

21 October 2021

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we manage the COVID-19 outbreak at IRT Tarrawanna Aged Care Centre.

As you know, all residents and staff are being tested for COVID-19 each day. Last night we received the results from yesterday’s tests and one resident from Lyrebird has returned a positive result.

The resident, who is not vaccinated, has been transferred to hospital for early treatment.

Follow up testing

All residents and staff will be tested again today.

Our residents diagnosed with COVID-19 continue to experience a range of symptoms including a fever and cough, while others are still relatively symptom-free. We continue to monitor them with input from the Virtual Community Care team. This includes the additional care and support for our residents who are palliating and have also tested positive for COVID-19.

We are in regular contact with the hospital for updates on our residents who are there and continue to be in touch with their nominated representatives.

Staying connected

You may be aware by now that our Lifestyle team has developed a schedule for video and phone calls to our residents over the coming days. Thank you for your assistance with this. If, when talking with your loved one, you become aware of any concerns please let us know.

For our residents who are used to viewing televised church services, we are working to have a selection available via YouTube tomorrow, and today the team will distribute more magazines to those who have requested more reading material.

Gifts and visiting

Just a reminder that the centre remains closed to all visitors (except for those attending for end of life). Our residents have been enjoying a wide range of gifts delivered to them. Details for dropping these off remain the same: they can be dropped off between 10am – 11am and 1pm – 2pm each day; at the table outside reception. Please remember to include your loved one’s name and do not send items that require refrigeration.

Ongoing communication

As the nominated representative of your loved one, I will continue to update you via this daily email and the team will continue making daily calls. Please pass on this information to other family contacts as appropriate.

If you have any questions or concerns we would appreciate it if you called our Customer Service Team on 134 478.

Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding.

Yours sincerely
