Dear family member/resident representative,
I am sad to advise that one of our Tarrawanna Aged Care Centre residents who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 passed away on Saturday afternoon. The man was in his 70s and had been with us since May last year. His wife was able to visit on Saturday morning. Our thoughts are with his family and friends as they grieve their loss.
Test results
Pleasingly, the results from yesterday’s COVID-19 tests on residents and staff were negative once again. Residents and staff will be tested again tomorrow.
We are now caring for 8 residents with COVID-19 at the care centre, supported by the Virtual Community Care team. One resident was transferred to Wollongong Hospital yesterday evening for further treatment.
While we continue to receive negative test results, and 12 residents have now reached the recovery criteria, we continue to operate in accordance with our outbreak management plan, and in consultation with all relevant health authorities. We are closely monitoring all residents, including those not diagnosed with COVID-19.
Melbourne Cup
Preparations are continuing today for tomorrow’s Melbourne Cup day. Tickets have been issued for the care centre’s sweeps, and we will arrange for interested residents to watch the ‘race that stops a nation’.
The Lifestyle Team are continuing to assist with escorted walks and other activities for residents in their rooms. They are also working to ensure all residents are assisted when needed to connect with family and friends via phone or video calls.
Ongoing communication and gifts
Please remember if sending or delivering gifts to include your loved one’s name and ensure they are dropped off between 10am – 11am and 1pm – 2pm each day at the table outside reception.
