An update about IRT Tarrawanna Aged Care Centre

2 November 2021

Dear family member/resident representative,

Today I am pleased to let you know that three more of our residents who were diagnosed with COVID-19 are now considered recovered.

We are now caring for five residents with COVID-19 at the care centre. Another resident remains in hospital. Fifteen of our 26 residents who originally tested positive have now reached the recovery criteria.

In other good news, one of our staff members who earlier tested positive has also recovered and been cleared to return to work. It’s great to see them back at the care centre. The other employees who tested positive remain away from work and are continuing with their recovery.

Testing today

Residents and staff will be tested again today and then on Thursday. I am grateful to everyone for their assistance with this process as we continue managing the care centre in accordance with our outbreak management plan.

With support from the Virtual Community Care team and other health authorities, we are monitoring all residents closely, including those not diagnosed with COVID-19.

While it’s good news to continue with negative results from our rounds of testing, we have not relaxed our approach to infection control and we remain focussed on managing the risk of COVID-19 within the care centre.

Melbourne Cup

Today the Lifestyle team will be finalising sweep tickets for all residents who are interested in the Melbourne Cup; and will assist residents where needed to view the race on TV.

Activity packs including trivia, quizzes and word-finders in the Melbourne Cup theme are also being distributed.

The Lifestyle Team are also continuing to assist with escorted for residents and it has been pleasing to see the residents enjoying these.

Ongoing communication and gifts

If you are sending or delivering gifts to your loved one please include their name and ensure they are dropped off between 10am – 11am and 1pm – 2pm each day. The table is still located outside reception. As previously mentioned, and especially as the weather warms up, please don’t send items that require refrigeration.

You are receiving this email update as you are the nominated representative of your loved one. Please pass on this information to other family contacts as appropriate.

I will email you again tomorrow to provide you with another update and to let you know the results of today’s tests.

If you have any questions or concerns please call our Customer Service Team on 134 478.

Thank you again for your ongoing support and understanding.

Yours sincerely
