An update about IRT William Beach Gardens Aged Care Centre

8 August 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

The purpose of this message is to provide you with a brief update on your loved one’s aged care centre as we continue to manage it in accordance with our outbreak management plan.

We are awaiting results of tests conducted yesterday but prior results have indicated no further cases.

Pleasingly, all residents of Kembla cottage who were earlier diagnosed with the virus have reached their recovery criteria and are now able to leave their rooms to socialise with others in their area.

One resident of Nebo cottage has also been deemed recovered and we are now caring for three residents in that cottage as they continue their recovery. We continue to monitor them regularly as they manage their symptoms which range from mild to none.

Another resident remains in hospital where they are receiving continued treatment.

As a risk of COVID-19 transmission remains within Nebo cottage we continue to encourage residents there to remain in their rooms. Staff are providing support where needed and meals continue to be served in their rooms.

In what we hope will be the last round; precautionary PCR tests for residents in Nebo who have not yet tested positive will take place tomorrow.

I will provide you with another update later in the week we hope to have the results of those tests and news of our transition out of outbreak management.

Visiting arrangements

Until then however, you are encouraged to postpone your plans to visit but if you do continue with your plans, the following arrangements apply:

  • Please wear your PPE as instructed by staff. If a staff member asks you to adjust it they are doing so to protect you, your loved one, and all others living and working in the care centre.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.
