An update about IRT William Beach Gardens Aged Care Centre

12 August 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your support as we’ve managed the risk of COVID-19 in your loved one’s aged care centre.

Since writing to you on Monday, I am pleased to let you know that our three residents in Nebo Cottage who were previously diagnosed with COVID-19 reached their full recovery criteria and are free of the virus. This brings Nebo Cottage out of isolation and all residents in this cottage are now free to leave their rooms and resume normal activities.

We do still have one resident in hospital where they are receiving continued treatment.

We have also received the results of the last two rounds of PCR tests and I’m glad to report that all were negative.

With this pleasing news, we are optimistic that very soon the public health unit will officially close the outbreak at our care centre and provide us with guidance to begin our transition back to regular operations, including a resumption of regular visiting arrangements early next week.

Visiting arrangements

While we work through the transition back to normal operations, we encourage you to postpone your visit until we have formal notification from the local public health unit that regular visiting arrangements can resume.

If you still wish to visit before then, please be aware of the following arrangements:

  • Two visitors per resident and by appointment only.
  • No children under the age of 12 years.
  • All visitors are asked to show proof of a negative rapid antigen test before entering the care centre. Please do not enter the site until you have completed the test according to instructions, including waiting for 15 minutes for the test’s completion. If there is nobody in attendance to witness your result, please take a photo of the negative test as staff may ask you for proof.
  • All visitors are asked to wear a P2/N95 mask when visiting and other PPE as directed by staff.
  • Please wear your mask as instructed by staff. If a staff member asks you to adjust it they are doing so to protect you, your loved one, and all others living and working in the care centre.

As always please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild. Even if you have a negative COVID-19 test result you may still have influenza or another virus which is highly contagious.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely

Nia Briguglio
