Full-day power-outage on Thursday 25 May 2023

19 May 2023

Dear family member/resident representative,

I’m writing to let you know that we have been notified by Endeavour Energy of a full-day power-outage at your loved one’s care centre on Thursday 25 May 2023.

Details of the outage

Date: Thursday 25 May 2023
Time: Approximately 8.30am – 4pm
Location: IRT William Beach Gardens Aged Care Centre (all areas)

What does this mean for you and your loved one?

During this time, there will be some changes put in place to accommodate the outage. While we are planning to minimise the disruption to residents and visitors where possible, please be aware of the following:

  • The care centre reception landline and resident landlines will not be available. For anything urgent, please call the RN mobile on 0424 711 220. Please limit calls to this number as it needs to remain free for urgent matters.

  • Where residents require medical equipment, such as oxygen concentrators, alternative options that don’t require a power source will be provided (e.g. portable battery operated concentrators and / or oxygen cylinders).

  • Meals will be prepared and served for residents, but there may be some minor adjustments. All dietary requirements will still be met.

  • Residents will continue to receive their medications as normal and contingencies are in place for any medications that require refrigeration.

  • Any items in residents’ rooms that are not battery operated and require electricity to run will not be operational during this time. We recommend limiting the use (opening and closing) of any personal bar fridges and not having any high risk food items in those fridges at the time of the power outage.

  • Resident activities will continue to run on the day, however may be adjusted slightly to accommodate the lack of electricity supply.

  • The care centre’s automatic doors (including the main door at reception) will not function as normal and may need to be opened manually. Our staff will be monitoring the main door to let visitors in. If staff are not available to let you in when you arrive, please be patient – you will be let in as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience the power outage may cause you or your loved one.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards

Rebecca Perry
