An update about IRT Berala on the Park Aged Care Centre

30 April 2024

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your support as we managed the risk of a gastroenteritis-like illness within IRT Berala on the Park Aged Care Centre.

I’m pleased to share that all residents who were experiencing gastroenteritis-like symptoms have now recovered, and there are no new residents experiencing similar symptoms.

With this news the public health unit has advised that this outbreak is considered resolved and has approved our transition out of outbreak conditions at the care centre.

To this end, there is no longer a requirement to wear any type of mask when visiting the care centre. As explained in the past, however, this may change at short notice before we are able to communicate with you via our usual channels. If for any reason you feel uncertain about the arrangements before visiting, please contact the care centre.

More details on our visiting arrangements, including the requirement for a negative rapid antigen test result can be found here.

Further to the above, please do not visit if you yourself, are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely

Belinda Pheeney
Acting Operations Manager Sydney – Aged Care Centre
