Dear family member/resident representative,
Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to manage the risk of COVID-19 at your loved one’s aged care centre.
Unfortunately since we wrote to you yesterday, a further fourteen residents have tested positive to COVID-19. The residents who have tested positive continue to experience a range of mild symptoms including a cough, sore throat and runny nose. All positive residents are being prescribed anti-viral medication by their GPs and are being monitored closely as we care for them in their rooms.
We continue to encourage all residents in the care centre to remain in their rooms where they are being supported with their care needs and served meals. This is to reduce the risk of further transmission. Staff are escorting residents on walks and engaging in other forms of one-on-one time for those who find this challenging.
Residents are also receiving activities to suit a range of interests that have been prepared by our Lifestyle team and where needed are also receiving assistance with making video and phone calls to family and friends.
PCR tests will be conducted again tomorrow and on Monday. If your loved one returns a positive result, staff will let you know by phone and will keep you updated on their progress. We will provide another update early next week. This will include the results of tomorrow’s and Monday’s PCR tests.
In consultation with NSW Health authorities the decision has been made to close the care centre to all visitors, except those for essential purposes arranged in accordance with care centre staff.
Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact the care centre.
Thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely
Alex Reed
