Important information about IRT Dalmeny Aged Care Centre

07 June 2023

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to provide you with an update as we manage the risk of COVID-19 at your loved one’s aged care centre.

In pleasing news, since my last update to you we have had several residents who have now met their recovery criteria and are free of the virus.

We are currently caring for 12 residents with COVID-19 in Wagonga and Mummaga. Other than experiencing some mild symptoms such as a cough, sore throat and runny nose, the residents are regarded as stable and we are monitoring them closely.

We will continue with our ongoing testing regime to ensure early detection of any other cases. This involves testing residents in the affected areas every two to three days, as well as residents in other parts of the care centre who may have been identified as close contacts.

As I’ve explained previously, if your loved one returns a positive result, we will let you know by phone and continue to provide you with a daily update regarding their progress.

Visiting arrangements

While we manage the risk of COVID-19 at the centre, you are encouraged to postpone your visit at this time. If you do continue with your plans to visit, the following arrangements apply:

  • Children under 12 years of age are not permitted to visit the care centre.
  • All visitors will be asked to wear a P2/N95 mask and a face shield at all times and in all places while in the care centre, including in residents’ rooms. This will be provided on entry.
  • Those visiting a resident who is considered a close contact, is COVID-19-positive, or resides in Mummaga will also be asked to wear a gown and instructed on how to dispose of it safely.
  • Please wear your PPE as instructed by staff. If a staff member asks you to adjust it they are doing so to protect you, your loved one, and all others living and working in the care centre.

As always please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild. Even if you have a negative COVID-19 test result you may still have a contagious respiratory infection.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact me on 0428 494 614.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely

Kellie Daly
