Important information about IRT Five Islands Aged Care Centre

26 April 2023

Dear family member/resident representative

I am writing to provide you with an update as we manage the risk of COVID-19 at your loved one’s aged care centre.

We have received the results of our last two rounds of tests and pleasingly all were negative.

In further good news, our two residents in House 2 who were previously diagnosed with COVID-19 have reached their full recovery criteria and are now free of the virus. They are now able to come out of isolation and do not require any further testing.

We are continuing to monitor one resident in House 2 who was identified as a close contact. Our next round of testing for this resident is scheduled for Saturday 29 April. If this resident returns a negative result, we are hopeful that the local Public Health Unit will close the outbreak at our care centre next week.

Until then, and while we manage the risk of COVID-19 in House 2, we encourage you to reconsider any planned visits to House 2 at this time. If you do wish to proceed with your visit, you may be asked to wear additional PPE, such as a P2/N95 mask. Children under the age of 12 are also strongly discouraged from visiting this area of the care centre at this time.

There are no other changes to the current visiting arrangements in place.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager

Thank you once again for your continued support.

Kind regards,

Rebecca Perry
Operations Manager – Illawarra Aged Care Centres
