Dear family member/resident representative,
I am writing to let you know that we are currently caring for eight residents within the care centre who have tested positive to COVID-19.
The residents all reside on the first floor and are regarded as stable, experiencing some mild symptoms such as a runny nose, mild cough and hoarse voice. The residents are being encouraged to remain in their rooms where they are being monitored regularly in consultation with their GP, including discussions of commencing antiviral treatment.
Residents across the service have been tested as a precaution using Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT). Pleasingly, those results have returned as negative. In accordance with the Public Health Unit requirements and our own outbreak management plan, the care centre will commence a precautionary COVID-19 testing regime.
If your loved one returns a positive result, we will let you know by phone and continue to provide you with regular updates regarding their progress.
As a result of the outbreak, we have unfortunately had to postpone the barbeque planned for this Friday. We will inform you of the revised date once the outbreak has closed.
Visiting arrangements
If you do continue with your plans to visit the care centre, the following arrangements apply:
All other visiting arrangements continue to apply. You can find more information about our visiting arrangements on our website here.
As always please do not visit your loved one if you are experiencing any symptoms or are feeling unwell, even if the symptoms are mild. Even if you have a negative COVID-19 test result you may still have a contagious respiratory infection.
Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.
Thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely
Belinda Pheeney
Acting Operations Manager – Sydney Aged Care Centres
