Important information about IRT Tarrawanna Aged Care Centre

12 April 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to provide you with an update on your loved one’s aged care centre.

This morning we unfortunately had a resident in Rosella/ Lorikeet test positive for COVID-19 after returning from an external appointment where they were identified as a close contact of a person with COVID-19.

Following this, residents in Rosella/ Lorikeet were rapid antigen tested as a precaution and an additional 6 residents have returned a positive result.

We are now caring for 7 residents at the aged care centre who are COVID-19 positive. The residents are experiencing a range of symptoms from none at all to mild, and they are now being cared for in their rooms by our staff. We have been in contact with their families.

We are in consultation with the NSW Public Health Unit and have implemented our Outbreak Management Plan to ensure the risk of transmission is reduced at the aged care centre.

We understand that this increase in case numbers is a concern and we have implemented some infection control protocols in response, which includes some changes to our visiting arrangements.

Visiting arrangements

With an increase in case numbers at the centre we strongly encourage you to reconsider the need to visit your loved one.

Visitors under 12 years of age are not permitted until the risk of exposure has been minimised.

All visitors must wear all necessary PPE whilst in the care centre, including a P2/N95 mask (not a surgical mask as outlined in the updated visiting arrangement issued last week) and complete a rapid antigen test prior to entry.

Please do not visit the care centre if you are unwell with even the mildest symptoms, or if you are awaiting the result of a PCR test.

If you choose not to visit the Lifestyle Team can assist where needed to connect residents with family and friends by phone or video call.

You are receiving this message as you have been identified as the person responsible for your loved one. Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate.

If you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely,

Nia Briguglio
