Dear family member/resident representative,
I’m writing to provide you with an update about your loved one’s aged care centre as we manage the risk of COVID-19 and also rhinovirus.
The PCR tests that were collected on Friday afternoon have returned two additional positive COVID-19 cases and we are now caring for three residents with the virus.
All residents that returned a negative result will be PCR tested again today and staff will advise you by phone if your loved one returns a positive result.
We also have a number of residents experiencing the symptoms of rhinovirus.
We continue to liaise with the local public health unit whose ongoing advice is to reduce the movement of residents within the care centre. In response, all residents are being encouraged to remain in their rooms where they are being supported with their care needs and served their meals.
As mentioned on Friday, we have implemented our outbreak management plan, which includes a range of infection control protocols, in order to minimise the risk of both viruses spreading within the care centre.
ANZAC Day
The Anzac Day service planned for tomorrow will proceed as planned and will be broadcast across the site via intercom so that residents can hear it in their rooms. The laying of the wreath will be completed by staff as part of the service.
As outlined on Friday, if you have plans to take your loved one out of the care centre this week, you may consider postponing the outing at this stage.
Visiting arrangements
If you plan to visit the care centre while we are managing the risk of COVID-19 and rhinovirus, please assist us by complying with the following:
More details on our visiting arrangements can be found on our website here.
Please do not visit if you are unwell yourself, with even the mildest symptoms.
