Updated information about IRT Diment Towers Aged Care Centre

17 June 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to provide you with an update about your loved one’s aged care centre.

Since writing to you earlier this week our unwell residents have continued their recovery. Two are now deemed completely recovered, one resident remains in hospital and five at the care centre continue to manage symptoms such as cough, runny nose and fever. Our resident in hospital is receiving additional clinical care for more challenging symptoms and remains stable.

There have been no further cases develop, however while some residents remain symptomatic, all residents are being encouraged to remain in their rooms where they are being cared for and served their meals.

The Lifestyle team is continuing to provide support where needed to ensure residents have access to activities of interest and are able to connect with family and friends by video or phone calls as required.

Visiting arrangements during outbreak conditions

Until we have confidence in the complete recovery of our residents from their parainfluenza symptoms, the care centre continues to be managed according to our outbreak management plan with all relevant infection control protocols in place.

Please reconsider your need to visit your loved one at this time. If you do continue with your plans to visit please assist staff by complying with the following:

  • Children under 12 years of age are not permitted to visit.
  • Residents will be permitted 2 visitors only by appointment.
  • All visitors will be asked to show proof of a negative rapid antigen test before entering the care centre.
  • All visitors will be asked to wear all necessary PPE while in the care centre including a P2/N95 mask and a face shield which will be provided on entry.
  • If you are visiting a resident who is currently unwell with respiratory infection you may be asked to wear a gown and instructed on how to dispose of it safely.

Please do not visit if you are unwell yourself with even the mildest symptoms. Even if you have tested negative for COVID-19 you may have influenza which is also highly contagious.

I hope to be in touch with you early next week with details of our residents’ recovery.

If you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your co-operation and support.

Yours sincerely,

Nia Briguglio
