Dear family member/resident representative,
On behalf of the team at IRT, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your loved one as we celebrate completion of the transition of Marco Polo’s operations into the IRT family.
The transfer of ownership of the Marco Polo residential aged care centres in Unanderra, Woonona and home care services to IRT Group is now complete. The care staff and I look forward to meeting you and your loved one over the coming months.
As you will recall, in March we announced that our Board had agreed with the Board of Marco Polo Aged Care Services for Marco Polo’s residential aged care centres and home care service to join IRT.
Like Marco Polo, IRT is a community-owned, not for profit aged care provider and has more than 50 years of experience in providing aged care services to older people of all cultural backgrounds.
We have more than 2400 employees providing care services to more than 8000 residents and home care customers in the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Southern Sydney, Eurobodalla regions of NSW, Queensland, and the ACT.
I am pleased to also officially welcome today the vast majority of Marco Polo staff who accepted our offers of employment. This means that your loved one will continue to be cared for by the people they know and trust.
We recognise the importance of this and the significance of the Marco Polo brand, and we remain committed to retaining the logo and name on staff uniforms and the building that your loved one calls home.
Ongoing communication
From time to time, the care team will communicate with you in this way via email and SMS to keep you updated regarding your loved one’s care centre operations.
Meanwhile, if you have any questions about the ongoing care of your loved one please continue to communicate with the Care Manager and staff in the manner you are accustomed.
