An update about IRT Moruya Aged Care Centre

29 June 2022

Dear family member/resident representative,

Thank you for your support as we continue to manage your loved one’s aged care centre in accordance with our outbreak management plan.

I am pleased to let you know that the results of the PCR tests conducted on residents on Monday were negative.

In other good news, all of our positive residents have now reached their recovery criteria except for one who is currently on day 7 of their recovery. We anticipate this resident will also reach their recovery later in the week.

While progress at the aged care centre is encouraging, we remain vigilant in our infection control protocols and will continue to manage the aged care centre in accordance to our outbreak management plan until we are sure that the risk of transmission is eliminated. We are also expecting to receive further guidance from the NSW Public Health Unit this week on the resumption of regular operations and I will update you once we receive this.

Visiting arrangements

In the meantime, a reminder that you are encouraged to postpone any plans to visit. If you do continue with your plans please assist staff with the following arrangements.

  • Children under 12 years of age are not permitted to visit the affected area of the care centre.
  • Residents are permitted 2 visitors only by appointment.
  • All visitors are asked to show proof of a negative rapid antigen test and before entering the care centre.
  • All visitors are asked to wear all necessary PPE at all times while in the care centre including a P2/N95 mask and a face shield which will be provided on entry.
  • Those visiting a resident who is considered a close contact or is COVID-19 positive will also be asked to wear a gown and instructed on how to dispose of it safely.
  • Please wear your PPE as instructed by staff.

Please do not visit if you are unwell yourself, with even the mildest symptoms. Symptoms of respiratory infection can indicate a range of contagious viruses including COVID-19 and influenza.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Yours sincerely,

Nia Briguglio
