Important information about IRT Thomas Holt Sans Souci Gardens Aged Care Centre

21 April 2023

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am writing to let you know that a resident at your loved one’s aged care centre has tested positive to COVID-19.

Since the resident who has tested positive has attended many social activities this week, it is the advice of the Public Health Unit that all Sans Souci Gardens residents isolate in their rooms until the results of the PCR tests that were collected and sent to the labs this afternoon are returned.

We are hopeful that the PCR results will be returned tomorrow. Staff will let you know the results by phone. The de-isolation of residents will be guided by the Public Health Unit once the PCR results are known.

As we await the PCR results, we have implemented our outbreak management plan, which includes a range of infection control protocols, in order to minimise the risk of the virus spreading within the care centre.

If you have plans to take your loved one out of the care centre this weekend, you may consider postponing the outing at this stage.

Visiting arrangements

If you plan to visit the care centre while we are managing the risk of COVID-19, please assist us by complying with the following:

  • All visitors are asked to complete their own rapid antigen test at home or on arrival at the centre and provide proof of the negative result (photo or actual test).
  • All visitors are asked to wear a P2/N95 mask when visiting and other PPE as directed by staff.
  • Those visiting a resident who is considered a close contact or is COVID-19 positive will be provided with direction on any further PPE requirements by a member of staff.
  • Please wear your PPE as instructed by staff. If a staff member asks you to adjust it they are doing so to protect you, your loved one, and all others living and working in the care centre.

More details on our visiting arrangements can be found on our website here.

Please do not visit if you are unwell yourself, with even the mildest symptoms. Symptoms of respiratory infection can indicate a range of contagious viruses including COVID-19 and influenza.

Please pass this message on to others as you consider appropriate and if you have any questions please contact your Care Manager.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Yours sincerely

Belinda Pheeney
Acting Operations Manager Sydney – Aged Care Centres
