An update about IRT Tarrawanna Aged Care Centre

11 November 2021

Dear family member/resident representative,

I am pleased to let you know that as we continue to meet the goals of our Transition Plan we are permitted to welcome visitors back to your loved one’s aged care centre from Monday 15 November.

Visiting will resume in line with the NSW Chief Health Officer’s directions for all aged care centres in NSW and as outlined below.

  • A maximum of two adults and two children under the age of 12 are permitted to visit each day.
  • All visits to be by appointment only between 10am and 5pm each day (7 days). To make your appointment please call Reception at the care centre.
  • There is no limit to the length of visit. Different people may visit each day.
  • All visitors (except those under 12) must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and have received their second dose at least 14 days prior to their visit.
  • All visitors over the age of 12 must wear a N95 mask and be well with no symptoms.
  • All visitors over the age of 12 will also be asked to wear a Face Shield while in the centre and this will provided to you to wear during your visit.
  • A mandatory wellness check will be conducted prior to entry to the aged care centre.

It is a direction of the Chief Health Officer that you cannot visit your loved one’s aged care centre if you have been to any of the ‘close, casual or monitor for symptoms locations’ in NSW at the dates and times listed, or in Victoria, ACT, QLD or New Zealand in the last 14 days.

More information on the Chief Health Officer’s directions can be found here.

All other conditions of visiting apply, and these details can be found here.

Essential visits will continue for those who previously assisted their loved ones with essential elements including personal care and meals.

Rapid Antigen Testing

You will also be asked to undergo a rapid antigen test prior to entry.

Resident outings

From Monday 15 November residents will be permitted to leave the centre for outings. If you would like to take your loved one on an outing information regarding the requirements can be found here.

On leaving the centre all residents and/or their representative will be asked to complete a resident outing form and confirm understanding of the requirements. If unable to confirm, the resident may be asked to self-isolate for 14 days when they return to the aged care centre.

Remembrance Day

At the care centre today, residents and staff will take time to reflect in acknowledgement of Remembrance Day; with the Lifestyle team coordinating poppies for residents who wish to wear them, and activity will pause for a minute’s silence at 11am.

This will be my last update to you for this week. I will next be in touch with you with information about how you can provide feedback to us about our management of the outbreak.

Thank you for your support and understanding. Words of encouragement from families and residents to staff over the past month have been greatly appreciated.

Yours sincerely

Nia Briguglio
